This bill prohibits certain mental health professionals, including psychologists, professional counselors, and marital and family therapists, from engaging in conversion therapy with minors. Conversion therapy refers to any practices or treatments that seek to change an individual's sexual orientation or gender identity. However, the bill does not prohibit counseling that provides acceptance, support, and understanding of a person or facilitates a person's coping, social support, and identity exploration and development, as long as such counseling does not seek to change the individual's sexual orientation or gender identity.
