An act to amend Section 26050.2 of, and to add Section 26050.5 to, the Business and Professions Code, relating to cannabis.

AI Summary

This bill would, until January 1, 2031, authorize the Department of Cannabis Control to issue provisional licenses for local equity applicants engaging in cannabis retailer activities, even if they have not completed all the requirements for an annual license. The bill would allow the department to renew these provisional licenses until the annual license is issued or denied, or up to 5 years from the original issuance, whichever is earlier. The bill requires the department to report to the legislature on the number of provisional licenses granted and canceled under these provisions. The bill also declares that its provisions further the purposes and intent of the Control, Regulate and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act.
