This bill amends the South Carolina Code of Laws by adding a new section, Section 6-7-25, which limits the number of unrelated adult persons that can live in a single-family residence to three, unless special circumstances are shown to the local zoning board or governing body. The bill defines key terms such as "adult", "domestic partnership", and "unrelated", and also applies the provisions to dwelling units in duplexes, townhouses, condominiums, and other multi-unit residential structures. The bill provides an exception for existing lease or rental agreements and imposes civil penalties of $10 per day for violations, to be enforced by the local governing body.
