This bill establishes the crime of school bus monitoring device interference and makes a violation a crime of the fourth degree. Under the bill, a person commits the crime of school bus monitoring device interference if the person purposefully and unlawfully alters, destroys, conceals, removes or disables any camera or monitoring device installed on a school bus. Monitoring devices include videotape, film, or other medium used to record sound or images. A crime of the fourth degree is punishable by a term of imprisonment of up to 18 months, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.
