This bill, the Broadband Grant Tax Treatment Act, aims to exclude certain broadband grants from being counted as gross income for tax purposes. Specifically, it excludes grants received under the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Program, the State Digital Equity Capacity Grant Program, the Digital Equity Competitive Grant Program, the Middle Mile Grants program, and other broadband-related grant programs established by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act or other federal legislation. The bill also denies any deductions or credits for expenditures covered by these excluded grants. The amendments made by this bill would apply to amounts received in taxable years ending after March 11, 2021.
