Bill Summary
AN ACT Relating to reemployment of state workers dismissed from employment due to vaccine mandates; adding a new section to chapter 43.01 RCW; and creating a new section.
AI Summary
This bill creates a pathway for state employees who were dismissed from their jobs due to COVID-19 vaccine mandates to be reemployed in their former positions, if they are still qualified. The bill requires employers (executive branch agencies) to reinstate eligible employees to their previous roles or a similar position, unless the employer can demonstrate that reemployment is impossible or would impose an undue hardship. The bill also encourages local governments and private employers to create similar pathways for employees who lost their jobs due to vaccine mandates.
