This bill amends the definition of a "cottage food production operation" in the Texas Health and Safety Code. It removes the requirement that a cottage food producer have an annual gross income of $50,000 or less from the sale of certain homemade food products. The bill also expands the list of foods that can be produced and sold by cottage food operations, including plant-based acidified canned goods and fermented vegetable products. The bill directs the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission to adopt necessary rules to implement these changes, which will take effect on September 1, 2023.
