This bill proposes to amend the Mississippi Medicaid law to expand eligibility under the federal Affordable Care Act. Specifically, it would provide Medicaid coverage to individuals under 65 years of age who are not pregnant, not entitled to or enrolled in Medicare, and have income not exceeding 133% of the federal poverty level. These individuals would receive benchmark or benchmark equivalent coverage as authorized under the Affordable Care Act. The bill also includes other technical and administrative provisions related to Medicaid eligibility determinations. The expanded coverage would take effect on July 1, 2023.
