This bill modifies provisions governing school employee training requirements. It requires school districts and charter schools to provide mandatory training for school employees on topics such as student discipline, restraint and seclusion, bullying prevention, identifying signs of child abuse, dyslexia screening and support, and responding to active shooter and intruder situations. The training must be provided annually for newly hired employees and on a schedule determined by the district for other employees. The bill also makes changes to policies and procedures related to these areas, such as prohibiting certain restraint techniques, requiring reporting of seclusion and restraint incidents, and mandating suicide prevention training and suicide hotline information on student IDs.
