This bill proposes to amend the New York State Constitution to allow the legislature to set additional qualifications, beyond equal representation of the two major political parties, for the members of boards of elections that are responsible for tasks like voter registration and vote counting. The bill would also require that the proposed constitutional amendment be referred to the next regular legislative session after the next general election of state assembly members, and be published for 3 months prior to that election, as required by the state constitution.
