This bill amends the General Business Law to require that mandatory arbitration clauses in certain consumer contracts be printed in a large font size (16 points or larger). The bill prohibits mandatory arbitration clauses in consumer contracts and specifies that any such clauses are null and void. Businesses that fail to provide the arbitration clause in large print format are subject to civil penalties not exceeding $250 for a first offense and $500 for subsequent offenses.
