This bill enacts the "Elderly Abuse Protective Act" to protect residents 62 years of age or older who suffer abuse or deprivation. It requires reports to the Commissioner of the Office of Children and Family Services of the possible necessity for protective services, and specifies the actions the Commissioner must take upon receiving such a report, including evaluation, right of entry, and furnishing of protective services. The bill also grants the Office of Children and Family Services authority to take actions necessary to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of any elderly person, and establishes a statewide central register of elderly abuse reports. The bill appropriates $600,000 to the Office of Children and Family Services to carry out these provisions.
