This bill creates the Electric Vehicle Rural Infrastructure Program and Fund to assist private developers with non-utility costs associated with the installation of electric vehicle charging stations in cities or counties that meet the criteria of a "distressed locality" based on their population density and economic indicators. The bill provides that private developers are eligible to receive grants covering 70% of these non-utility costs, with a total cap of $25 million in grants awarded per fiscal year. The Fund is established as a special nonreverting fund in the state treasury to be used solely for the purposes of the Program.
