Bill Summary
AN ACT to amend the civil service law, in relation to employment of persons and veterans with disabilities by the state

This bill amends the Civil Service Law to increase the number of positions that can be filled by persons with physical or mental disabilities from 1,200 to 5,000, and the number of positions that can be filled by disabled veterans and veterans with disabilities from 500 to 2,000. The positions are classified in the non-competitive class and can only be filled by individuals who are certified as having a physical or mental disability, or disabled veterans and veterans with disabilities. The bill also prioritizes the certification and referral of disabled veterans who received a combat wound that is the cause or a substantial contributing factor to their disability.
