AN ACT to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to the creation of a prom and graduation safety program

This bill amends the Mental Hygiene Law to create a "Prom and Graduation Safety Program" within the Office of Mental Health. The program will focus on ensuring the safety of adolescents attending prom and celebrating high school graduation. The Commissioner, in conjunction with the Department of Health, State Education Department, and Division of State Police, will develop educational materials for students, educators, and parents/guardians on the dangers of using alcohol, tobacco, prescription medications, and illicit drugs, particularly those prevalent among school-aged youth. These materials will be made available on the websites of the Office and State Education Department, and updated annually.
