This bill prohibits physicians from performing irreversible gender reassignment surgery on minors under the age of 18, with some exceptions. Specifically, it prohibits procedures such as penectomy, orchiectomy, vaginoplasty, and others that are intended to assist with an irreversible gender transition. However, the bill allows for necessary services and medical treatment for individuals born with a medically verifiable disorder of sex development, or when the treatment is necessary to address an infection, injury, disease, or disorder caused or exacerbated by a gender transition procedure, or when the procedure is necessary to prevent imminent danger of death or major bodily impairment.
