This bill amends the Texas Election Code to limit the amount of campaign contributions that can be made to candidates for statewide office or the legislature, or to specific-purpose committees supporting or opposing those candidates, in the primary or general election. The contribution limit is set at 50 times the amount of the contribution limits for federal candidates under the Federal Election Campaign Act. The new limit applies only to contributions made on or after the effective date of this Act, which is September 1, 2023.
