AI Summary

This bill prohibits the manufacture, importation, distribution, sale, and offering for sale of assault weapons in Washington, with limited exceptions for licensed firearms manufacturers and dealers selling to the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and for transfers outside the state. The bill defines "assault weapon" based on a list of specific firearms as well as certain features of semiautomatic, center-fire rifles, pistols, and shotguns. The bill allows existing legal owners to retain their assault weapons but restricts future sales and transfers. Violations of the law are punishable as gross misdemeanors, and the bill also designates violations as unfair or deceptive acts under the state's Consumer Protection Act.
