This bill establishes an LGBTQ+ youth and young adult suicide prevention task force. The task force will consist of seven members appointed by the governor, the temporary president of the senate, the speaker of the assembly, and the commissioner of health. The task force will study current mental health practices and suicide prevention efforts, recommend ways to increase their effectiveness, and determine potential reasons for the high number of LGBTQ+ youth and young adult suicides. The task force is required to submit preliminary and final reports to the governor and legislature within 13 and 22 months, respectively, and can propose legislative changes to implement its recommendations. The bill will take effect 60 days after becoming law and expire 2 years after the effective date.
