This bill expands the definition of "eligible postsecondary institution" for the purposes of the Tennessee HOPE scholarship, Tennessee HOPE access grant, Tennessee HOPE teacher's scholarship, or Wilder-Naifeh technical skills grant. The expanded definition includes certain private postsecondary institutions that have established a partnership with the state, are accredited, use a competency-based model, have a physical campus or location in Tennessee, have a governing body or advisory board based in Tennessee, and have been chartered in the state as a not-for-profit entity for at least five consecutive years. The bill also includes a definition of "semester hour" that accommodates the competency-based model used by these eligible private institutions.
