This bill creates two new sections of the North Dakota Century Code. The first section prohibits government entities from requiring employees to use an individual's preferred pronoun or designate the employee's preferred pronoun in work-related communications, unless required by law. The second section prohibits public schools from adopting policies or providing instruction related to a student's "expressed gender" (gender identity not conforming to their biological sex), with some exceptions where federal law requires it or with parental approval. The bill also allows teachers to use a student's preferred pronoun if they have consulted with and received approval from the student's parent or guardian and the school administrator.
