This bill amends the public health law to establish a uterine fibroids awareness and education program. The program will conduct ongoing public awareness and education on the symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of uterine fibroids, with a focus on the elevated risk for minority women. The department of health will produce and distribute educational materials on uterine fibroids, make information available on its website, and periodically review and update the materials. The department will also report every three years on the implementation of the program and any recommendations for improvement. The implementation of the program is contingent upon and conducted within available appropriations.
