This bill proposes to restrict the possession, manufacture, purchase, sale, or transfer of large-capacity ammunition feeding devices, also known as "large-capacity magazines," as well as certain "assault weapons." The bill defines a "large-capacity magazine" as a device with a capacity of more than 10 rounds of ammunition, and an "assault weapon" as certain semi-automatic firearms with specific features. The bill provides exceptions for government officials, law enforcement, and the military, and requires individuals who currently possess such items to remove them from the state, render them permanently inoperable, or surrender them to law enforcement for destruction by July 1, 2023. Violations of the bill's provisions would be considered a fourth-degree felony.
