This bill would require health care service plans and health insurers to annually verify and delete inaccurate listings from their provider directories, with increasing accuracy benchmarks of 60% by July 1, 2025, 80% by July 1, 2026, 90% by July 1, 2027, and 95% by July 1, 2028. The bill would subject plans and insurers to administrative penalties for failing to meet these benchmarks. It would also require plans and insurers to arrange care and provide coverage for enrollees or insureds who reasonably relied on inaccurate information in the directories, and prohibit providers from collecting additional amounts from enrollees or insureds in those cases. The bill would authorize the state's insurance departments to develop uniform standards for provider directory formats and verification processes.
