This bill expands Medicaid eligibility in Mississippi to cover individuals under 65 years of age who are not pregnant, not entitled to or enrolled for Medicare benefits, and have an income not exceeding 133% of the federal poverty level, as authorized under the federal Affordable Care Act. The bill amends the existing Medicaid eligibility law to add this new eligibility category, specifying that individuals covered under this provision will receive benchmark or benchmark equivalent coverage. The bill also provides that the eligibility of these individuals will be determined by the Division of Medicaid.
