Provides that an individual is ineligible for benefits for any week that the individual receives payments equal to or exceeding the individual's weekly benefit amount in pension, retirement, or annuity payments under any plan of an employer where the employer contributes all of the money. (Under current law, the disqualification provision applies under any plan of an employer where the employer contributes a portion or all of the money.) Makes corresponding changes.
AI Summary
This bill amends Indiana's unemployment compensation laws in several ways:
1. It updates the definition of "deductible income" to include dismissal pay, severance pay, and payments under separation agreements. It also raises the amount of remuneration that is not considered deductible income from $3 or 20% of the weekly benefit amount to $100.
2. It allows the Department of Workforce Development to accept offers in compromise from employers or claimants to reduce past due debts from contributions or benefit overpayments, with some exceptions.
3. It changes the disqualification for receiving unemployment benefits when an individual receives pension, retirement, or annuity payments from any plan where the employer contributes a portion or all of the money to only plans where the employer contributes all of the money.
4. It clarifies that the state of Indiana is not required to participate in, nor precluded from ceasing to participate in, any offered or enacted voluntary, optional, special, or emergency federal unemployment programs.
