This bill expands the eligibility for the Mississippi Dyslexia Therapy Scholarship for Students with Dyslexia program to include students in kindergarten through grade 12. The existing law limited the program to students in grade 1 through grade 12. The bill also amends the definition of "dyslexia therapy" to provide more details on the components and instructional approaches that must be used. Additionally, it requires local school districts to adopt policies to screen students for dyslexia in the fall of kindergarten and grade 1, and it allows parents to obtain a subsequent evaluation if their child fails the initial screening.
