This bill amends several sections of the New York General Municipal Law to change the notice requirements for the acquisition of real property for open space, historic preservation, or urban renewal purposes. Specifically, it removes the requirement of "due notice" and instead requires a public hearing with at least 10 days' notice for such acquisitions. The bill also provides that the acquisition of interests or rights in real property for the preservation of open spaces and areas shall constitute a public purpose for which public funds may be expended or advanced.
