Bill Summary

Authorizes a tax credit for the purchase of electric vehicles

AI Summary

This bill authorizes a tax credit for the purchase of electric vehicles (EVs) in Missouri. The tax credit is set at $2,500 per qualified purchase of a new battery electric vehicle (BEV) or new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and can be claimed by individual taxpayers subject to Missouri's state income tax. The tax credit can be carried forward up to three subsequent tax years but is non-refundable and cannot be assigned, transferred, sold, or otherwise conveyed. The Department of Revenue is required to promulgate rules to administer the tax credit, and the provision will automatically sunset six years after the effective date unless reauthorized by the General Assembly.
