This bill amends the Public Utilities Act to require an electric utility that serves more than 3 million customers in Illinois to fund the construction of 5 employment training centers located in the west side of Chicago, Ford Heights, Waukegan, Bloomington, and Peoria. The utility must also fund a solar training pipeline program, a craft apprenticeship program, and multicultural job programs, with a focus on providing opportunities for individuals who are or were foster children or have a criminal record. The bill aims to establish a pipeline of trained installers for solar projects and create employment opportunities in the electric industry, particularly in underserved communities.
