This bill amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 40, Chapter 29, relative to voting rights. It allows certain persons deprived of the right to vote to apply for a voter registration card and have their right to vote provisionally restored if they enter into a payment plan to become current on all child support obligations. The bill also authorizes the Secretary of State, in consultation with the Department of Human Services and the Administrative Office of the Courts, to promulgate rules to effectuate the purposes of the act. The bill takes effect on July 1, 2023 and applies to persons applying for a voter registration card on or after that date.
