This bill establishes signs and websites to provide awareness and directional guidance to tourism attractions, historic sites, and historic districts in the state of New Jersey. The Department of Transportation, in coordination with the Federal Highway Administration, will adopt amendments to the rules governing the Tourist Oriented Directional Signs (TODS) Program to include tourism attractions, historic sites, and historic districts as eligible facilities. The amendments will set eligibility requirements, such as being located within 15 miles of a state highway and meeting operational hours and licensing standards. Additionally, the Department of Transportation will adopt amendments to the Specific Service Sign (Logo) Program to allow for the inclusion of tourism attractions, historic sites, and historic districts on the blue motorist service signs along designated freeways and interstate highways. The Division of Travel and Tourism in the Department of State will develop and maintain an interactive website providing information on tourism attractions, historic sites, and historic districts, including their locations, tour availability, and contact details. This is intended to help people efficiently find and visit these locations within New Jersey.
