This bill prohibits the use of exotic animals, defined as animals that are not domesticated dogs, cats, or livestock, in traveling performances, which are public or private events where exotic animals are transported and displayed or required to perform tricks or give rides for entertainment. The bill includes exceptions for rodeos, animal rehabilitation programs, shelter programs, and animal education or conservation programs accredited by a local or national authority. Municipalities and counties are required to enact ordinances prohibiting the use of exotic animals in traveling performances and enforce these provisions. The bill will take effect on July 1, 2023.
