This bill permits a municipality to receive one credit and one bonus credit for each bedroom within transitional housing that is occupied, or restricted for occupancy for at least 10 years, by a low or moderate income veteran. Transitional housing refers to housing with on-site or off-site supportive services that facilitate the movement of individuals and families who are homeless or lack stable housing to permanent housing within a fixed amount of time, generally up to 24 months. The bill defines a veteran as a citizen and resident of New Jersey who has been discharged from full-time active service in any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States, excluding those with a dishonorable discharge.
