This bill modifies provisions relating to members of the armed forces. Specifically, it creates the "Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Freedom's Sentinel, and Operation Allies Refuge Program" within the state adjutant general's office, which will award a medallion, medal, and certificate of appreciation to veterans who honorably served on active duty in the U.S. military from October 7, 2001, to August 30, 2021. Additionally, the bill allows for a 100% state income tax deduction for active duty military pay and a phased-in deduction of up to 100% for pay from National Guard or reserve military duty, including bonuses. The deduction does not apply to compensation received while engaging in civilian federal service.
