This bill provides for a legislative management study regarding township participation in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The study will examine the roles of the insurance commissioner, department of emergency services, and department of water resources in tracking and updating the relevant land use authority on lands outside a municipality's jurisdiction. The study will include methods for tracking organized townships, establishing a formal process for townships to yield land use authority to adjacent jurisdictions, and ensuring insurance producers and the public can access information on the relevant land use authority for NFIP purposes. The legislative management will report its findings and recommendations, along with any necessary legislation, to the 69th legislative assembly.
