This bill creates the Missouri Earned Family and Medical Leave Act, which establishes a program to provide up to six weeks of wage replacement benefits to eligible employees who take time off work for family or medical leave. Employees would contribute 0.25% of their average weekly pay to a dedicated fund starting in 2025, and could start receiving benefits in 2027. The bill also prohibits employers from discriminating against employees who claim or receive these benefits, and requires the state to implement an outreach program to inform employees about the program. The provisions of the new program will automatically sunset on December 31, 2030, unless reauthorized by the legislature.
