This bill proposes to transfer ownership of the Naselle Youth Camp property from the state of Washington to the Chinook Indian Nation. The bill requires the Department of Enterprise Services to execute an agreement by October 1, 2023, to transfer the property to the Chinook Indian Nation without further consideration, provided the Nation agrees to maintain ownership of the property for at least 10 years and use it for tribal government purposes. The bill also removes references to the Naselle Youth Camp from the definitions of "residential school" and the purposes of certain state residential facilities under the Department of Children, Youth, and Families and the Department of Social and Health Services.
