This bill amends the Texas Family Code to allow courts to order retroactive child support beginning on the earliest possible date of the child's conception, as determined by a physician or other evidence presented to the court. The bill also allows courts to order the obligor to pay an equitable portion of the mother's and child's prenatal and postnatal health care expenses. Additionally, the bill requires courts to confirm the amount of retroactive child support and render a cumulative money judgment for the total amount owed. The changes in law apply only to orders adjudicating paternity or acknowledgments of paternity made on or after the bill's effective date of September 1, 2023.
