This bill establishes the Therapeutic Psilocybin Working Group within the Department of Health. The working group is tasked with examining the medicinal and therapeutic effects of psilocybin or psilocybin-based products on mental health conditions, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, and end-of-life psychological distress. The group will also study the effectiveness of medicinal and therapeutic uses of psilocybin in states that have legalized it, and develop a long-term strategic plan to ensure the safe availability and accessibility of affordable therapeutic psilocybin or psilocybin-based products for adults 21 and older. The working group must report its findings and recommendations to the Legislature before the Regular Session of 2025 and will then be dissolved on June 30, 2025. The bill also appropriates funds for the working group's activities.
