This bill amends the Code of Civil Procedure to require each party in a civil action to provide initial disclosures to the other parties within 60 days of a demand, unless modified by the parties' stipulation. The disclosures must include information about persons with relevant knowledge, documents and evidence, and any insurance or indemnification agreements. The bill allows parties to propound supplemental demands for additional information. The bill also increases the sanction for failing to respond in good faith to a document request from $250 to $1,000. The bill exempts certain actions, such as unlawful detainers and small claims, and does not apply to unrepresented parties.
