AI Summary
This bill, known as the "Save Women's Sports Act" or "Selina's Law," requires interscholastic and intramural junior varsity and varsity athletic teams and sports sponsored by public and certain nonpublic high schools in Maryland to be expressly designated based on biological sex as either for boys/males, girls/females, or coeducational/mixed. It prohibits governmental entities, licensing or accrediting organizations, and athletic associations from taking adverse actions against schools for maintaining separate teams and sports for students of the female sex. The bill also allows students deprived of athletic opportunities or harmed due to a violation of this law, as well as schools that suffer harm, to bring civil actions with the possibility of recovering damages, attorney's fees, and other appropriate relief.
