This bill, the "No TikTok on United States Devices Act," imposes sanctions on the Chinese company ByteDance, which owns the social media platform TikTok. The bill requires the President to block and prohibit all transactions and property interests of ByteDance and its subsidiaries in the United States within 30 days of the bill's enactment, unless the activities are related to law enforcement, national security, or security research. Additionally, the bill mandates the Director of National Intelligence, in consultation with other government agencies, to submit a report to Congress within 120 days on the national security threats posed by TikTok, including the Chinese government's ability to access and use data of U.S. users. The bill also requires the Director of National Intelligence to provide a classified briefing to Congress within 180 days on the implementation of the Act and the report.
