This bill restricts all ownership of agricultural land in the State by foreign governments and persons. It defines key terms such as "agricultural land," "foreign government," and "foreign person." The bill prohibits foreign governments and persons from acquiring, purchasing, or obtaining an interest in any agricultural land in the State after the effective date of the act. Existing foreign owners have a maximum of five years to sell or convey their land, which must remain devoted to agricultural use. The bill also requires the Secretary of Agriculture to compile and report annual data on the total acreage of agricultural land owned by foreign entities, the percentage changes, the top nationalities, and the purposes for which the land has been used.
