This bill, the Reducing Suspensions and Expulsions Act, prohibits the expulsion and limits the out-of-school suspension of students and children enrolled in pre-kindergarten through second grade in publicly funded community-based pre-kindergarten programs, public schools, charter schools, and licensed child care facilities, unless certain exceptions are met. It also requires enrolling entities to collect and report data on student/child demographics and discipline. The effective date of the act is July 1, 2023.
