This bill amends the Insurance Law to change the way the foreign and alien fire insurance premium tax is distributed to fire companies. Previously, the amount received was distributed equally among the fire companies in a fire department. The bill now requires the amount to be distributed in proportion to the number of active members within each fire company. An "active member" is defined as a member who participates in firefighting and is subject to call for assigned duties under the rules and regulations of the fire department or company.
