This bill amends the existing law to set the monthly benefit amount for the general assistance program in New Mexico at $516 per person. The general assistance program provides public assistance to certain individuals who are under 18 and not eligible for the New Mexico Works Act, over 18 and disabled, or are lawful resident immigrants who would otherwise be eligible for the New Mexico Works Act. The bill also requires the Department of Human Services to make commensurate adjustments to the general assistance program's standard of need whenever it adjusts the standard of need for the New Mexico Works Act, subject to the availability of state funds.
