This bill amends Tennessee's laws related to the education of professional bondsmen. It allows the Tennessee Association of Professional Bail Agents to provide or contract for virtual classes in addition to in-person continuing education classes. The bill also increases the maximum amount the association can charge for eight hours of continuing education from $400 to $450 annually. Additionally, the bill prohibits individuals convicted of certain felonies or multiple misdemeanors from attending these continuing education classes, and requires applicants to undergo a criminal background check prior to attending. The provisions regarding the criminal background check and restrictions on attendance take effect on January 1, 2025, while the other changes take effect upon becoming law.
