This bill prohibits price discrimination in commercial transactions in Minnesota. It prevents businesses engaged in commerce from directly or indirectly discriminating in price between different purchasers of commodities of like grade and quality, if the effect of the discrimination lessens competition or tends to create a monopoly or monopsony (a market with a single buyer). The bill provides exceptions, such as for differences in manufacturing, selling, or delivery costs, or in response to changing market conditions. It also establishes a process for rebutting a prima facie case of price discrimination. Additionally, the bill repeals an existing Minnesota statute related to unfair price discrimination.
