This bill establishes a pilot grant program at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) to fund community air-monitoring systems in environmental justice areas in Minneapolis. The program will provide grants to partnerships between nonprofit organizations and entities with experience deploying and operating air-monitoring systems. The grants can be used to purchase monitoring equipment, train operators, and analyze and report the data. The MPCA must approve the monitoring technologies used and prioritize projects in areas with high rates of air pollution-related illnesses.
